The Kaiser Permante Study that focused on Adverse Childhood Experience found that children with high ACE scores  were more likely to experience severely impacted lives as adults, which included shortened lifespans and major difficulties in jobs, schools and relationships.  However, intervention that helped create resiliency significantly improved outcomes and reduced the continuation of inter-generational abuse.

Foster children often have to leave pets when they are taken into care. We hope to eventually provide a home for their pets, so they can stay connected and come visit their pets even as they are placed into homes where they can't take animals. This can help provide security and a sense of continuity. Providing love and help for an animal is an empowering and healing experience for these children.  Furthermore, we hope to soon provide shelter for  Currently, the Domestic Violence shelters do not take pets.  Often victims stay with an abuser for fear the abuser will kill a pet to punish them for leaving, and sadly, this often happens.  By providing safe shelter for their pets, it protects DV victims the children who suffer from abuse. This is one of our next goals.
